ATLANTIS-
Atlantis was an island, as big as Asia and Libya combined as described by Plato. Although there is no evidence proving the island ever existed, it has been said that a huge earthquake destroyed the island, submerging 95% of it underwater at the time. However, Plato suggests that the civilisation fell into war which culminated in its destruction. Plato then goes on to say that there were earthquakes and floods of extraordinary violence that swallowed the island completely.
There are many theories to where Atlantis was located, Plato's theory being that it was in the mediterranean, however, other sites where atlantis is thought to be located is in the Caribbean, South America, Antarctica, Ireland and French Polynesia.
Plato described the island to have a small mountain in the centre of it in which temples and gardens were built on. The diameter of this space was said to be 1 and a half kilometres. Surrounding the central mountain were three rings of land each connected by canals and a huge 8km canal connected to the ocean. On these rings of land, there were houses, gardens and public buildings.
